Post-Tourney Thoughts
What a crazy finish to a major tournament. Rory misses two close range putts and Dechambeau capitalizes. Scottie finally shows human tendencies, and Tyrell Hatton goes from Top-5 contender to a blow-up on Sunday. As far as my wallet; back on track this week. In the money on a couple of lineups and won some key bets on Top-10 finishes and round matchups. Not as strong as maybe I should have been with how the Oracle performed. I had a bit of Scottie narrow vision this week and did not capitalize on utilizing cheaper guys like Bryson, Rory, Cantlay, and/or Finau. I definitely was way too high on Viktor Hovland this week as well, just never had anything going for him. Really hope you faded me on that one. I think I get a bit of confirmation bias when I write about certain guys on the blog and then really want to see them do well so I put them in too many lineups. Where I have improved most post-Oracle era is including Key Stats and Current Form. Helped me identify some money winners in Ludvig Aberg, Russell Henley, and Corey Conners. Still room for individual growth, but I will take being in the green for the week.
In regard to model performance this week, I am really happy. There was a lot of pressure coming from the page viewership bump because of the US Open’s popularity. And the Oracle pretty much delivered (even when Scottie couldn’t). As mentioned a few guys fell off late including Hatton and Horschel. But, when you break it down, the Oracle shortened the field down to 15 players and included all four of the golfers who finished in the Top-3. There still is some intuition involved in picking the right players (clearly since I am not writing about the fortunes I just won) but I uphold that since starting this blog the Oracle has helped narrow down the choices well.
Looking forward, I want to hear from anyone that has utilized the blogs in anyway. Tell me about your methods utilizing the site, all of your successes, failures, and just okays. Also, feel free to give me some feedback in the comments below on how you think the website can improve (please with some understanding that I am just a person trying their best). I really want to make this sort of a journey to a better lineup, and promise that there will never be any pay-walls, subscriptions, etc. If people continue to actually enjoy this content I might put up Google Ads but will always ensure the websites quality for you (no loading page pop-ups or overly-annoying ads).
